Other bands: Saaba Banks, Jim Fix, The Lou Reeds
This was the band's first unveiling.
Me on drums, Nic on keyboard, Aaron on guitar, Jonny on guitar and vocals.
We were then called London (and so was Motley Crue, before they were Motley Crue), and this was a benefit show for the annual CIRCVS fest I had put on for the last four years.
My hope was to earn enough from the door to eat into the cost of bringing a dozen bands to my hometown from far away. And a decent-sized paying crowd showed up, probably thirty or forty people.
A friend’s band, Madeleine Frown, was also scheduled to play but dropped out at the last minute.
Our set was filled with the finger-bleeding intensity of a young band trying to prove something. I set up backwards and pounded the crap out of my drums, and Aaron and Jonny ran around the stage like they forgot their meds. Nic wore a long black cape.
Everyone said they liked us. But they were our friends, too, so maybe they felt like they had to say that.
Jim Fix became instant fans, and have been behind us ever since.
